The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
The “ie” combination can make a lot of different sounds. Today we're going to review words like “cookie” and “Barbie” where it makes an “ee” sound.
You can review all of the prior lessons here.

The Girl Scouts
The Girl Scouts were formed on this day more than one hundred years ago.
They sell cookies to raise money. Each year, the girls fan out to shopping malls, churches, and other stores in order to sell their cookies.
Which one is your favorite? Thin Mints? Samoas? Tagalongs? S'mores? Or Do-si-dos? Which of these cookies is your least favorite?
Selling cookies teaches the girls a lot of life skills. They have to be bold and speak loud and clear to get people to buy boxes of cookies. Plus, they have to do some math after someone buys a box!
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What was today's story about?
What life skills do Girl Scouts learn by selling cookies?
