The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to work on words like “kite” and “white." If your child wants or need more practice on the "Magic E" and the long “i” sound, start here.
You can review all of the prior lessons here.
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?

Read It
Have your child read the passage below out loud. (Note: They may struggle with the word “writing,” but help them sound it out.)
Handwrite a Letter Day
If you had to write a letter, who would you send it to? An aunt, an uncle, or a grandfather?
Today is a day to handwrite something. It could be a note, a message, or a to-do list. Put a pen to a sheet of paper and just write.
The act of writing a letter can make you slow down and think. Writing can also help you remember stuff better.
Plus, a letter that you take the time to write can last forever. It feels more personal. You can hold a letter, and you can read and re-read it over and over again.
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What was today's story about?
Without looking back, can you spell the word "white?"
