The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to work on words like “wild.” Tell your child that these are special. They look like other words that end in “-ild,” but they are pronounced differently.
You can review all of the prior lessons here.
Rhyme It

Wildlife Conservation Day
Do you know what “wildlife conservation” means? Let's take it apart.
First, there is the word “wildlife.” That is simple: Wildlife are animals that live in the wild.
Next is “conservation.” That is the act of protecting or conserving.
So, put them together, and “wildlife conservation” is about protecting animals that live in the wild.
What could you do to help? Well, think about it! Could you walk or bike rather than taking the car? Could you use glass or metal rather than plastic? Could you bundle up rather than turning up the heat in your house?
These are just some examples of things you could do to help protect wildlife.
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What is today's story about?
What does "conservation" mean?
