This is the Read Not Guess Daily(ish) Decodable program. It uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions to you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to review the “-ing” sound in words like “ring” and “singing.” Start here if your child needs a primer on “-ing” words.
You can review all prior lessons here.

Now It's Spring
Get rid of the sled. Pack up those mittens and hats. A thin jacket is all that you want.
It's the first day of spring!
Now, what will the spring have to share? What will the spring bring?
Green grass pops up out of the ground. The robins are back. They make a little nest.
The ducks fly back to swim in the pond.
Frogs sing in the spring.
It can be sunny in the spring, but some days will bring rain.
Drip, drop, drip, drop. The rain will fall down your nose. But watch out: Your pants and socks may get damp.
Tomorrow I will use an umbrella to stay dry.

Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What day is it today?
What happens in the spring?
