The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to review the “ew” sound in words like “new” or “grew.”
You can review all of the prior lessons here.
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?

Nut Day
Today is Nut Day.
There are many kinds of nuts: Peanuts, almonds, cashews, Brazil nuts, pecans, and more.
Some people (“pee-pul”) are allergic to nuts and should not eat them.
Me? I love them all. You can do lots of things with nuts. Take the peanut. You could eat it raw, roast it, churn it into peanut butter, or use peanut oil for cooking.
You can also grab a few nuts as a quick snack to take on the go.
Many animals depend on nuts. Squirrels gather acorns and other nuts and store them for the winter.
So grab a handful of nuts. They wal-nut steer you wrong!
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
How many types of nuts can you name?
What does the author say you can do with peanuts?
