The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to work on words like “mile” and “reptile." If your child wants or need more practice on the "Magic E" and the long “i” sound, start here.
You can review all of the prior lessons here.
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?

Read It
Have your child read the passage below out loud.
Reptiles
Today is Reptile Awareness Day. I personally do not love reptiles, but today is a day to learn more about them.
Snakes, lizards, crocodiles, and turtles are all reptiles.
Reptiles do not have fur or feathers, which means they can't stay warm on cold days. They also do not sweat or pant (like dogs), which means they can't stay cold on very hot days. Instead, they move into the sun for heat, or into the shade to stay cool.
Most reptiles lay eggs in a nest. Baby reptiles can glide, walk, or swim just hours after they are born!
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
Can you give some examples of animals that are reptiles?
Do you think reptiles like the snow? Why or why not?
