The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
We've already worked on words that end in “-le” like “bubble.” Today we're going to review words that look similar but have a hard vowel in front of them, like “table” or “maple.”
You can review all of the prior lessons here.
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?

Maple Syrup Day
Today is Maple Syrup Day!
Maple syrup is made from a sticky sap that comes out of maple trees each Spring. After you collect the sap, you heat it up really hot, and then it turns into the sweet syrup.
Do you like to eat pancakes, waffles, or French toast? Do you put maple syrup on them?
I like all of them! For example, when I sit at a table with pancakes, I spread a little butter on them and then pour real maple syrup on top. It's a simple treat.
Some people use fake maple syrup, but my uncle says that's just sugar and water. He prefers the real stuff.
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
How is maple syrup made?
How does the author like to eat pancakes?
