The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
If you want to review any prior lessons, those are all freely available here.
Today we're working on words like "ice" and "rice." If your child wants or need more practice on the "Magic E" and the "soft c" sound, start here.

Have your child read the passage below out loud:
Ice Cream Day!
Yesterday was Ice Cream Day. My family and I went to the new ice cream store down the block.
My brother got chocolate with a cherry on top.
My sister said she prefers mint chip.
My dad wanted strawberry.
My mom got a banana split.
No fruit for me. I got vanilla with gummy worms!
I knew it would be good, but I ate it too fast, my mouth felt numb, and I got a brain freeze.
Still, I sure would do it again. Ice cream day is the best!

Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What day was it yesterday?
What flavor did the author's brother get?
