Today we're going to work on words like “here” and “severe.”

Read It

Have your child read the passage below out loud:

Gene Eats Grapes

Gene the ox woke up bright and fresh. He said to himself, “It is Friday and the sun is out!”

He ate quickly and then left home.

There were some ripe grapes on a vine. He went to reach for them, but the grapes were too high.

Gene made a plan. He found a long stick to bend the grape vine lower. Now he could eat the grapes!

Gene ate grapes until he became quite full.

Then he went back home to take a nap.

At dusk, Gene woke up and looked out. The moon rose high in the sky and Gene felt complete.
