We've already worked on the hard "ea" sound in "eat."
Today we're working on the soft "ea-" sound in words like "Earth."
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?

Read It
Have your child read the passage below.
Galileo
On this day in the year 1633, a man named Galileo was put in jail.
Back at that time, most humans assumed that the sun orbited (spun around) the Earth.
Galileo did his research, and he found the opposite. He said that the Earth orbited the sun!
Galileo was not popular while he was alive, but we now know that Galileo was correct. The Earth completes one full trip around the sun every year.
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
Who was Galileo?
How long does it take the Earth to spin around the sun? Do you remember how many days it takes?
