The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
The “ie” combination can make a lot of different sounds. Today we're going to work on words like “cookie” and “Barbie” where it makes an “ee” sound.
You can review all of the prior lessons here.

Bake Cookies Day
My auntie is over at my house to make cookies. She is a foodie and loves to bake.
First, we heat up the oven.
Then, we stir up the cookie batter. This one has chocolate chips, oatmeal, peanut butter, butter, and brown sugar. It's my favorite!
Next, we scoop the cookies onto the tray and bake them for nine to eleven minutes.
After we give them a brief rest to cool on the table, it's time to try them.
They are yummy! I wish I could bake cookies with my auntie every day.
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What steps did the author follow to make cookies?
What do the author's cookies have in them?
