The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
If you want to review any prior lessons, those are all freely available here.
Today we're working on words like “cake” or “snake.”
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?

Have your child read the passage below out loud:
World Snake Day
I hate snakes, but in honor of World Snake Day, here are a few facts about them:
Snakes live in most parts of the world, but not Antarctica, Greenland, or New Zealand.
Snakes cannot make heat—they need the sun to stay warm so they cannot live in places that are very cold or very hot.
Snakes are carnivores, which means they only eat meat.
When a snake begins to outgrow its skin, it will molt (shed) its outer layer.
Some people (“pee-pul”) like to keep snakes as pets, but not me!
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What day is it today?
Did you learn anything new about snakes?
