The Traffic Jam
The traffic is bad today.
A big, stinky, trash truck slid off the street. Now it’s stuck in the mud. It traps us in traffic.
I see my mom glance at the clock. She is tense.
We went for a quick trip to get stuff at the mall, but it took too long, and now we need to get back. It is after six and dinner will get cold.
All of a sudden, the truck gets unstuck. We can pass! We can relax and finish the trip. ------------------------------- Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What caused the traffic jam?
Where was the author going when they got stuck in traffic?
