The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
If you want to review any prior lessons, those are all freely available here.
Today we're working on the "-eigh" sound in the number "eight."
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?
seven eight wait ------------------------------- Say It Have your child point to and read the word "eight" three times (the number 8): eigh t

Have your child read the passage below out loud:
Turning Eight!
I'm turning eight today! There are going to be eight pals at my party. So I set the table with:
Eight cups,
Eight plates,
Eight napkins, and
Eight forks.
My mom made a small cake, and she put eight candles on top. I wish for eight presents and then blow out the candles.
Then I said, “Mom, would you cut the cake into eight slices?”
But wait, that's not right… With eight pals…plus me… we are going to need nine slices of cake!
Oh well, math was never my strong suit…
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What's happening in the story?
What did the author need to set the table?
