The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to do Magic E words with an “r” added on. These can be tricky to spot, so remind your child that the Magic E still makes the vowel say its name.
You can review all of the prior lessons here.
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?

The Bake Shop
As we walk into a bake shop, my aunt says, “Peter, you can pick anything you would like.”
Yay! I giggle with glee, and pump my fist in the air.
The baker asks me what I want. I think and think, but I can't decide.
The chocolate chip cookie is my normal order. But I want to try something different.
I love the color of the lemon bars. But they are too sweet.
The banana pudding is in the freezer.
Then I see a nice big slice of chocolate cake. It is tall and thick.
“Wrap that one up!” I say to the baker.
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What was the name of the main character in the story?
What does he end up choosing?
