The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to review the “-ain” sound in words like “rain” or “paint.”
You can review all of the prior lessons here.

Saint Patrick's Day
Today is March seventeenth. That means it is Saint Patrick's Day!
Saint Patrick's Day is a holiday known for parades and shamrocks, plus food, music, and other things from Ireland. In the city of Chicago, they color the river green!
A shamrock is a three-leaf clover. When it starts to come out of the ground, that means spring is coming.
The color green is important on Saint Patrick's Day. Did you wear anything green today? The rule is that you get to pinch anyone who forgets to wear something green!
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
What day is it today?
What is a shamrock?
