The Daily(ish) Decodable program uses a standard format to work through one sound per day. There are simple instructions for you, the parent or caregiver, and any words in big bold letters are meant for your child to read out loud.
Today we're going to review words like "silly" and "jelly" where the "y" makes an "ee" sound.
You can review all of the prior lessons here.
Rhyme It
Parents, read the following words out loud. Then ask your child which one does NOT rhyme with the others?
ball

Read It
Have your child read the passage below out loud:
Jelly Bean Day
Today's the day for jelly beans,
Sweet and sour, with colorful sheens!
Red and yellow, green and blue,
Pick a bean — or maybe two!
They are sweet to eat and fun to share,
You can have just one, or maybe a pair.
So let's all cheer, "Hooray, hooray!"
It's a silly jelly bean day!
We chase them fast and pick them up,
And manage to get them in a cup.
Some taste nice, some taste like pie,
One made me blink and say, “Oh my!”
So if your beans begin to play…
Just smile and shout, “It's Jelly Bean Day!”
-------------------------------
Explain It
Now have your child answer a couple questions about the story:
Today's story was a silly poem about jelly beans. How would you add to it or improve it?
Without looking back, can you spell the word "silly?"
